Songbook can store songs that the user inputs. It analyses the chord changes and tries to find the correct key. It also allows for a simpler analysis by only analysing triads.
The song you were viewing is remembered when you come back, and the Share button links to that song and its analysis.
All songs use the same five-line rhythm staff with chord symbols and harmonic analysis, including scores imported from Chord Dictionary. Press Open Score to edit with a floating, movable rhythm and repeat palette. Drag whole, half, quarter, eighth or sixteenth rhythms, dotted rhythms, rests and repeat signs onto the score using a mouse or iPad touch. The grid follows the meter: four beats in 4/4, seven in 7/8, with four subdivisions per beat for off-beat placement. Rhythm marks are retained in saved score files and Songbook songs, and control chord attacks and rests in playback and MIDI export. In the score editor, drag an existing chord or rhythm mark to move both together, including between bars. Drop outside the score to remove the pair, or select either part and press Delete or Backspace. Escape cancels a drag.
Create new chord scores in Chord Dictionary, then export them to Songbook. You can also import a saved score file (.json) with Import / edit chord score. Edit chord symbols by bar and beat, or duplicate a selected measure into a new next measure. Scores show chord symbols and rhythm marks on a five-line staff, without pitched melody notes. Repeat signs and numbered alternate endings from Chord Dictionary are displayed, saved and followed during playback and MIDI export. Save the song, download a chord MIDI or editable score file, or print the chord chart using your browser's Save as PDF option. MIDI-file import is currently unavailable.
New online songs belong to the browser that saves them. Everyone can view and play them, but only that browser can save changes or delete the original. Save a copy creates your own version without replacing someone else's song, even when the titles match. Ownership uses a private cookie, not an IP address or a shared link. Clearing cookies, switching devices or leaving private browsing loses owner access; keep an editable score-file backup. Older songs without recorded ownership remain protected. Triad Exercise presets and practice results stay local to their browser.
